Spring in Victoria, BC
While spring has not exactly sprung yet here in Victoria, we find ourselves staring out of our windows, waiting for the moment that it does arrive. After what feels like a rollercoaster of weather changes here in the city, we are more than ready for longer days and warm strolls through the city that come with the change of seasons.
Spring in Victoria means that the cherry blossoms will once again be in bloom, lining our streets with bursts of colour and beautiful falling petals. The City of Victoria has put together an awesome interactive map of the blooms, so you can plan your routes and seek out the most sumptuous spring streets.
The trees generally flower from mid-February to mid-May, depending on the weather and the species of tree. Due to the unusual cold snap we had last month, the buds are hanging on for a few more weeks, while the weather warms back up and we get ready to welcome spring back to the city. On the map, dark pink dots usually bloom from February to March, and the light pink dots usually appear from April to May.
We are looking forward to the long weekend at the end of month so we can get outside in the sunshine, and make the most of Spring in Victoria. Strolling along the Dallas Road waterfront, through the Oak Bay Village, or down Moss Street are some of our favourites. What do you have planned to celebrate Spring? Do you have any traditions that you revisit with the turn of the season? Share your thoughts with us!
