Just a 30-minute drive North on the Pat Bay Hwy from Victoria, you will find a seaside town called Sidney, BC. One of Greater Victoria’s 13 municipalities, Sidney is a charming representation of what many consider to be a true coastal town. Nestled along the Eastern coast of the peninsula, with gorgeous views over the ocean to the San Juan Islands, Sidney, BC is quaint and vibrant town to both visit, and to call home.
Strolling down Beacon Ave in Sidney, BC, you will come across a multitude of charming shops featuring local artisans and creators. Sidney is home to one of the most talked-about bakeries on the peninsula, several terrific bookstores, Capital Iron, and tons of gift shops.
Sidney, BC also boasts many delicious options for local dining. The Farmer’s Daughter is a cheese, charcuterie and wine bar that has just opened (and we cannot wait to try!), Fish on Fifth is a must-visit for delicious fish and chips, or stop by the Satellite Fish Co. fish market down on the pier to pick up some local catches and cook up your own!
One of the many perks of living in Sidney, BC is easy access to outdoor living. The Port Sidney Marina is a full-service marina with 320 slips for long-term moorage, or if you are just looking to get out for a day trip, launch your boat and putter off through the Gulf to the San Juan Islands and Anacortes. If you don’t have your own boat, hop on the Sidney Spit ferry for a scenic 25-minute ride over to the largely untouched island for a day of exploring in the sand. The Blue Dog Kayaking and Sidney Whale Watching companies can also get you out on the water for those interested in adventuring via kayak or paddle board!
Sidney, BC is a town that is rich in arts and culture. The Sidney Street Market runs every Thursday in June through to the end of August, attracting visitors from all around to the festivities. Take in a concert at the bandshell, or walk along the water and admire all of the sculpture art. And this Monday, there is a massive sidewalk sale taking place on Beacon Ave!
