Home Staging: Focus on the Most Important Rooms

Home staging can make a difference of thousands of dollars in your pocket when you sell your property. You may not always have the ability to hire a professional stager, or may not be able to have them stage every room in your home, so at least pay attention to the most important rooms. We have a ton of experience working with professional stagers, and have been able to see the difference that it can make it how fast a property sells, and for how much. Home staging can be tough to keep up, especially when you’re still living a day-to-day life in your home. Here are some tips for how to best stage your home for sale.

In the kitchen, make sure that all of your appliances, countertops and sink are spotless. As well, the countertops should be clear of everything with the exception of a couple of decorative items. You want potential buyers to feel that there is a lot of counter space!

Inside the cupboards, organize as best you can and ensure nothing is going to fall out if they’re opened up. The more space you can create inside the cupboards, the better.

In the bathrooms, make sure everything is clean and clear (uncluttered). Tuck away any cleaning products, extra toilet paper and personal items. If there’s a shower curtain, always keep it open for showings to allow the room to feel that much bigger. Make sure your towels match and are hung neatly on the racks. Picture a spa-like hotel bathroom, and try to re-create that feel, giving potential buyers an opportunity to see themselves in it.

In the bedrooms, especially the master bedroom, make sure the bed is neatly made, with matching bedding & decor. No personal items should be in immediate sight, and any clutter should be hidden, neatly, in the closets. Ideally, your bedroom art will match your bedding to bring the room together.
