Spotlight on Living in Fairfield, Victoria, BC
Greater Victoria is made up of many municipalities, with many differing neighbourhoods in each municipality. Fairfield, Victoria, BC is one of our most desirable neighbourhoods – bordering on Beacon Hill Park and the Dallas Road waterfront, encompassing trendy Cook Street Village, and home to the incredible Moss Street Market. Living in this community in Victoria, BC brings you close to nature, while remaining within walking or biking distance of the Downtown core.
In the springtime, Moss Street is one of the best places to catch sight of the blooming cherry blossom trees, and on Saturdays from May through to October, the Moss Street Market pops up at the Sir James Douglas school at the corner of Moss and Fairfield. This is a favourite for locals, with tons of local produce, artisans, crafts, food trucks and more. Be sure to check it out!
Cook Street Village is home to some of our favourite local eateries in the city, including Bubby’s Kitchen, Pizzeria Prima Strata, Big Wheel Burgers, Moka House Coffee, and of course, the Beagle Pub. If you haven’t tried one or all of these restaurants, visit one tonight – you won’t be disappointed! Cook Street Village also offers many local grocers, artisan shops, and Victoria’s iconic Pic-A-Flic video store – one of the only remaining video rental stores around.
We can’t talk about Fairfield, Victoria, BC without mentioning Beacon Hill Park. It’s hard to believe that this gorgeous green space, with over 200 acres of park land, is nestled right on the edge of the bustling Downtown core. This incredible park has a petting zoo, rose garden, sporting fields, playgrounds, tons of secret groves that are perfect for picnicking, and our favourite – the Victoria Lawn Bowling Club, home of Lawn Summer Nights! Beacon Hill is a terrific place to take the entire family for a day of outdoor fun. Be sure to grab an ice cream cone at the Beacon Drive In while you are there.
Dallas Road is home to one of the greatest off-leash dog parks in the city. If you are a dog owner, or a dog fan, this is the perfect place to spend an afternoon with your furry friend. Several staircases along the waterfront lead you down to beautiful pebble beaches, with breathtaking views across the Juan de Fuca Strait of the Olympic Mountains. If you are after some stunning sunset views, this is the place for you!
The Fairfield neighbourhood offers a broad range of real estate to suit your needs. From condos off of Cook Street, to single-family homes around Moss Rock Park, the residential streets in the area showcase some of the most “west-coast” architecture in the city. Historic homes can be found on the streets around Government House, new modern builds are popping up on Masters Road, and there are park side condos galore on Heywood Avenue and Southgate Street.
